Sumpter will be focusing on literacy this year and the staff formed committees this morning.  A Technology committee was also developed. The whole group Discussed a Needs Assesment for technology at our school

Treasurer’s Report:  The treasurer Annette couldn’t make it but Jill Reported we have $18,700.00 in the budget to start the year.

Allocation of Funds Principal Prats is interested in Document Cameras which are of great interest to the teachers to replace outdated overhead projectors for sharing work in the classroom. There will be new forms for Requests for funds.  There is no wireless capacity at the school. Computer Labs are about $10,000.00 for laptops and other needed equipment. The staff is having difficulty with the computers and servers especially for standardized testing.  We elected to give $22.00 per student for each teacher. It was motioned by Aimee and seconded by Eliza. Eliza requested digital cameras for our awesome year book.

Jog-a-Thon: Middle School volunteers already in place for Jog-a-thon. We will place information into the Newsletter in regards to volunteering for Jog-a-Thon. There are Leadership opportunities for Jog-a-thon.  Mikee Stutzman and Diana Reyes generously offered to co-chair Jog-a-thon.

Volunteer Opportunities:  Aimee Carter discussed having a volunteer coordinator due to frustrations of volunteering for events then not being needed or not being called.  Talana discussed doing volunteer coordinator at another school.  It was also suggested that mentoring of new volunteers to step up to the various positions in the club would help.  We discussed how to increase the membership of Sumpter Parent Club

Box Tops Volunteers Jennifer Koenig and co-chair Wendy Rogers were elected due to their creativity and ability with crafts to make Box Top contests lots of fun.

Back to school Night September 18 6:30pm. We discussed selling t-shirts as well.

Book Fair: November 17-24th the week of conferences.

Delia discussed the canvassing efforts for the bond measure that is up for the schools.
