Principal Prats’ Message:
Welcome to Sumpter Elementary. As principal of this wonderful elementary school, I look forward to working together to ensure our school provides strong educational programs with high expectations, dedicated teachers, and an informed/supportive community that guarantees a school environment that is exciting, challenging and safe for all children. Sumpter’s teachers and staff are committed to these components of an exemplary school and welcome any comments or questions you may have regarding the educational services provided. As most of you already know, Sumpter’s teachers and staff are highly qualified and committed to maintaining an outstanding academic, as well as safe environment for their students. Along with this, I believe that parental involvement is an essential part of any child's success. I appreciate your continuing cooperation and support for our school. It is my hope that together we can make this a successful year for all.

Mrs. Prats' vision is for EVERY student to find Academic and Personal Success:
I believe that all students can achieve high academic levels in accordance with the Oregon State and District Learning Standards. My hope is that every student leaves Sumpter with a sense of personal accomplishment and a full range of tools necessary to be successful later in life. Furthermore, I believe that learning should be fun while instilling a passion for exploration and intellectual curiosity. In order to ensure that all students achieve at high levels of instruction, I believe that high expectations for every student along with curriculum that is clearly linked to District and State Standards be a priority. It is my belief that these standardized lessons allow for creativity, problem solving, and critical thinking skills in literacy, math, science, social studies and the arts. Authentic assessments aligned with standards are also necessary in an exemplary school. I expect, as does our staff, continuous progress for all students - regardless of their current level of achievement. Additionally, it is important to remember that student success is ultimately dependent upon our partnership with you, the parents and guardians. I am here to serve as an educational resource to this school’s community. If I can assist you at any time, please do not hesitate to contact me.
